K-Meter Update v1.2.0

April 7th, 2011 by Ian

We released a new version of K-Meter today that features a numeric level display for each average and peak meter. This makes it easier to fix clipped samples because you can see how far above the clipping threshold you have gone. We also extended the scales up to +24 dB so that peaks above +20 dB can be shown.

You’ll notice that we removed the clip count button and clip threshold dial. We feel that the numeric level display gives a better indication of the severity of a clip than did the clip count button. Furthermore, the existence of a clip threshold dial seemed to imply that some amount of clipping was tolerable. Throw peak upsampling into the mix, and a clip threshold is a cause for confusion.

As usual, you can grab the latest version from our download page. Drop us a line and let us know what you think!
